A straightforward guide to elopement and intimate wedding locations in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach — including what you’ll need to know about permits before you show up.

Picking a location sounds simple until you start Googling.

Every beach has different rules, permit requirements, and restrictions that nobody tells you about upfront. This page cuts through that. These are the locations Pop-Up Vows works with—along with the honest details on what each one requires so there are no surprises on your wedding day.

Do I need a Permit for a Beach Wedding in South Florida?

Permit rules for beach weddings and elopements in South Florida depend on the city, beach, park, guest count, setup, and timing. Some locations may allow a simple standing ceremony with no setup, while others may require permission, a reservation, or a formal permit. Pop-Up Vows helps couples understand what may be needed before choosing a beach ceremony location.

The easiest answer: before you choose a public beach or park, check the local rules first — or let us help you figure out what is realistic for your guest count and ceremony style.

Delray Beach

Delray Beach is a strong choice for couples who want a small wedding or elopement with a relaxed South Florida feel. Depending on the ceremony style, couples can consider beach areas, garden locations, private homes, restaurants with private rooms, hotels, waterfront spots, or nearby cultural spaces like Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.

Atlantic Dunes Park in Delray Beach

Atlantic Dunes is the quieter, more natural side of Delray’s coastline — and the location we recommend for elopements and intimate ceremonies here. Located at 1605 S. Ocean Blvd, one block north of Linton Blvd on A1A, this park has a completely different feel from the busy Atlantic Avenue beach. There’s a boardwalk, a nature trail through the dunes, a pavilion, restrooms, and metered parking on the west side of A1A.

For open ceremonies on the beach: no chairs, arches, tents, or tables are permitted. Maximum 25 guests. Ceremonies must take place between 8:00am and sunset. No permit is required for this type of ceremony.

If you prefer a more structured set-up, the park pavilion is available to rent separately. Contact (561) 243-7441 for pavilion rental availability and fees.

Daytime garden ceremonies can include access to the gardens for portraits, guest admission to the museum and gardens, and ceremony locations for intimate groups of up to 35 guests.

The Grove + The Salon in Delray Beach

The Grove and The Salon are strong options for couples who want an intimate wedding dinner, private dining experience, or restaurant-style reception in downtown Delray Beach.

This is a perfect fit for couples who want the ceremony to feel small and personal, but still want a beautiful dinner afterward without booking a traditional wedding venue. The Salon works especially well for very intimate dinners, while The Grove can accommodate larger seated dinners, partial buyouts, and full restaurant buyouts depending on guest count, date, and availability.

Small ceremonies may also be possible onsite, including on the back patio or inside The Salon, depending on the vision and event details.

Best for: private dining, intimate receptions, restaurant weddings, post-ceremony dinners, and couples who care about food, atmosphere, and guest experience.
